While the tinsel, turkey and all things Christmas seem a long time ago now, we couldn’t leave fully behind without sharing our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Salvation Army in Portswood, Southampton and the generosity of our Clients.
For Christmas 2019, we were proud to make our Christmas gift donation on behalf of all our Clients, to the Salvation Army, a worldwide Christian church and registered charity, which has been fighting against social inequality and transforming lives for over 150 years.
Working at the heart of communities across the UK, they have 750 community churches and social centres offering friendship, practical help and support to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
Our Christmas gift donation was used to provide a hot Christmas Day meal, gift, friendship and warmth to over 100 local disadvantaged parishioners, who include those sleeping rough, in temporary housing, dealing with mental and ill health incapacity, or living and recovering from abuse. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Major Teresa Harris from the Shirley Corp wrote a kind thank you letter, saying: “You will be pleased to know that we provided 25 large food parcels for families who requested help. We were also able to give all the children within those families 3-4 gifts each. We believe we wrapped over 100 presents! On Christmas day 55 people sat down for lunch and each went home with a food hamper. Another group who we work with and whom benefited from your donation were 21 clients from our local mental health group who were each given a food parcel and gift.”
Please enjoy the wonderful pictures below and if you are thinking of leaving a donation to the Salvation Army in your Will, please come in and speak to us. We will be delighted to help you!
