The Redwood Foundation are delighted to invite you, your families, friends and colleagues to join us on Sunday 19th May at 10.00am to help with The Great ‘Porchy’ Beach Clean at Portchester Castle.
As part of the Foundations mission, we are supporting local conservation initiatives and activities to ensure we leave a sustainable planet for our future generations. We have all seen in the news and the amazing BBC Blue Planet program lead by Sir David Attenborough, the devastating impact man-made waste and in particular plastics, are having on our oceans, our wildlife and ultimately our own food supply chain.
We can all do our part to make this world a better place and this event gives us an opportunity to do that and have some fun too!
We will undertake the Beach Clean along the coastal path around Portchester Castle between 10.00am and 12.00 noon and then have a group picnic together, weather permitting! Refuse bags, gloves, antibacterial soap and wipes will be supplied on the day, you just need to bring as many people as you can to join in and bring a picnic, something to drink and something to sit on if you want to join us after.
We have no way of knowing what the weather will be on the day, however, we recommend you wear old comfortable shoes, and plenty of warm layers of clothing as the area is quite exposed to the elements! If you have your own gloves you’d prefer to wear, we promise not to be offended if you bring them too!
The meeting point is at 10.00am – Portchester Castle Car Park, Church Road, Portchester, Hampshire, PO16 9QW.
